Claiming your pet at the animal shelter?
I am 19 years old and my parents gave away our dog to the animal shelter and I feel so bad and my friend is allowing me to keep it at her place until we find her a home. I just need to know how much would it cost to get her out of the animal shelter, and what do they need from me? I have all the papers, such as vaccinations and license but they are under my dad's name but I do have a receipt of when I took her grooming it says her name on it and mine. Will they give me a hard time? My parents don't know about this because they won't let me. It's the animal shelter in San Diego, Ca. and she's been there for 3 weeks now and no adoptions I just want to find her a home before they euthanize her
Also, how long do they keep them before euthanizing them?
My dad brought her into the animal shelter saying he found her.
This is horrible. But I am not sure how much it would be to "re adopt" your dog. It depends on what their prices are. I am also sure they have some record on the dog, and if you say I am the past owner...they might contact your parents? Not sure how it works..but good luck.
And learn from this experience in that you NEVER do this to your child.
